Sylvia "Chivis" Alanis, based in Austin, Texas, and Mexico has over twenty years of senior-level nonprofit experience, including seven years as a dedicated grants consultant, she is committed to securing funds to promote equity and measurable community impact. Chivis has subject matter expertise in healthcare and mental/behavioral health, rural health, developmental disabilities, epilepsy, chronic disease, cultural arts, secondary education, animal welfare, economic stability, and nonprofit start-ups/capacity. Across these sectors, she has successfully raised over $3.5 million in grant awards for her clients from various federal funders such as SAMHSA, HRSA, and the CDC. Chivis is also familiar with state and foundation grants from her time as a grant reviewer at the American Heart Association NYC and It's Time Texas Austin. She has an extensive background in establishing best practices for ongoing sustainability in grantmaking and leading strategic planning initiatives such as annual plan development, impact priorities, and financial planning. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her son, family, and friends, practicing yoga, celebrating culture, and exploring different cities as a travel enthusiast!
